When Life Throws a Curveball
We all have those moments where life feels like it’s shifting beneath our feet. For me, it wasn’t just one thing; it was a series of curveballs that forced me to stop, breathe, and re-evaluate what it means to actually "live" rather than just "get by." As a mom of two and a former substitute teacher, I spent so much of my life pouring into others. But when life started throwing challenges my way, I realized I didn't have the tools to pour back into myself. I was surviving, but I wasn't thriving.
Finding Beauty in the Midst of It All
I’ve always loved designing inspirational things to help others, but I realized that I needed those reminders just as much as anyone else. I started leaning into the things that brought me peace: a calm sage green palette, the ritual of a morning cup of coffee in a beautiful mug, and the power of an organized, intentional home. This blog was born out of my own walking journey. It’s a reflection of the lessons I’ve learned—and am still learning—about resilience, grace, and the beauty of starting over after 40.

Three Months In: What I’ve Learned
Starting this blog three months ago was terrifying and exhilarating all at once. But what has been most inspiring is you. Connecting with this community has shown me that there is so much power in our shared stories. Whether you’re here for a Digital Toolkit to help organize your life or an Inspirational Tee to remind you of your strength, I want you to know that this space was built with you in mind.
Our Journey Together
Thriving isn't about having a perfect life; it’s about how we handle the curveballs. It’s about choosing to find the "boho" in the chaos—the natural, beautiful, and slightly unscripted parts of being a woman in her 40s. Thank you for being part of my first three months. I am so honored to be walking this path alongside you.
Embracing Personal Growth
As we navigate this stage of life, it’s essential to embrace personal growth. It’s not just about surviving; it’s about thriving. I’ve learned that taking small steps can lead to significant changes. Whether it’s picking up a new hobby, engaging in self-care, or simply taking a moment to breathe, every action counts.
Building a Supportive Community
One of the most beautiful aspects of this journey has been the community we’re building together. Sharing our experiences, challenges, and triumphs creates a bond that’s hard to break. It’s comforting to know that we’re not alone in this journey. Together, we can uplift and inspire each other.
The Power of Mindfulness
Mindfulness has become a cornerstone of my daily routine. Taking a few moments each day to reflect, meditate, or simply enjoy the present can make a world of difference. It helps me stay grounded and focused, especially during turbulent times. I encourage you to find your own mindfulness practice, whatever that may look like for you.
Celebrating Small Wins
Let’s not forget to celebrate our small wins! Every step forward, no matter how tiny, deserves recognition. Whether it’s completing a task you’ve been putting off or simply getting out of bed with a positive mindset, these moments are worth celebrating. They remind us of our strength and resilience.
Looking Ahead
As I look ahead, I’m filled with excitement and anticipation. There’s so much more to explore, learn, and share. I’m committed to providing you with resources, inspiration, and a sense of community. Together, we’ll navigate the ups and downs of life after 40, embracing every moment with open arms.
With grace and intention,
Janita Founder of Thriving after 40
